PE - Physical Education
We shine brightly in Physical Education when we try our hardest to meet our personal best in physical activity to help both our physical and mental health and wellbeing. Our broad and varied Physical Education curriculum prioritises physical activity, sport and social skills.
Physical Education lessons are taught from nursery up until Year 4, showing progression as children move up the school, allowing them opportunities to thrive in sport through lessons, clubs and competitions.
At South Wellfield First School, we also offer two opportunities for residential trips within our Physical Education curriculum, allowing children to build on orienteering skills whilst developing resilience, confidence and independence. Through engaging in PE activities, students develop fundamental motor skills and improve their overall physical fitness. Moreover, it teaches invaluable life skills such as teamwork, cooperation, discipline, and responsibility, which are applicable beyond the realm of physical activity.
By instilling a love for physical activity and sports, PE sets the foundation for lifelong health and fitness. At South Wellfield First School, not only do we offer a broad and varied curriculum taught inside school hours, we also offer morning, lunchtime and afterschool clubs to encourage a love and passion for different sports and increase physical activity.
